What Jacob and Esau Teach Us About Forgiveness: A Powerful Bible Lesson

Image
Forgiveness is one of the greatest challenges Christians face. When we have been hurt, betrayed, or wronged, letting go of pain can seem impossible. Yet throughout Scripture, God calls His people to forgive. One of the clearest examples of forgiveness is found in the story of Jacob and Esau. Their story begins with conflict and ends with reconciliation, showing us that God's grace can heal even the deepest wounds. The Broken Relationship Jacob and Esau were twin brothers, but their relationship was strained from an early age. Esau, the older brother, was entitled to special privileges and blessings. However, Jacob took advantage of Esau's hunger and persuaded him to sell his birthright. Later, Jacob deceived his father Isaac and received the blessing intended for Esau. When Esau discovered what had happened, he was devastated and furious. He planned to kill Jacob, forcing Jacob to flee from his home and family. For many years, the brothers lived apart. The pai...

Why You Must Not Forget God After Success – The Jericho Story

Image
There is something that often happens after a breakthrough that many people do not talk about enough. When life is hard, we pray harder. When doors are closed, we fast more. When problems surround us like walls, we become serious about God. We wake up in the middle of the night to pray. We trust Him for provision, healing, restoration, and direction. We become faithful because we know we cannot win the battle without Him. But what happens after the walls fall? This is one of the powerful lessons we can learn from the story of Jericho and Achan in the book of Joshua. The Israelites had just experienced one of the greatest miracles imaginable. Jericho was heavily fortified, impossible to conquer through normal human strength. Yet God gave them an unusual instruction: march around the city once every day for six days, and on the seventh day, march around it seven times. Then the priests would blow the trumpets, the people would shout, and the walls would collapse. Imagin...

How God Rewards Faithfulness in Hard Times

Imagine being one of the Israelites standing before Jericho. God's command must have sounded strange: march around the city once a day for six days, then seven times on the seventh day. No battering rams. No military strategy. No logical explanation for how those massive walls would ever crumble. All God asked for was obedience. We don't know exactly how many Israelites were there, but Scripture describes a vast multitude, hundreds of thousands of people. What stands out is this: there is no record of anyone refusing. No one complained about the repetitive task. No one quit because their feet were tired. Day after day, they obeyed what God had told them to do, even though nothing visible was changing. The walls of Jericho were enormous. Historians estimate that one lap around the city was between 1 and 1.5 kilometres. Over seven days, the Israelites circled Jericho thirteen times in total, once a day for six days, then seven times on the final day. That amounts to r...
