When Faith Touches Jesus: The Woman Who Refused to Give Up – Mark 5:25–34

In Mark 5:25–34, the Bible tells the story of a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years. Twelve years of pain. Twelve years of embarrassment. Twelve years of disappointment. She had spent all she had on doctors, yet her condition only grew worse. Every attempt to find a solution seemed to fail.
Imagine going to doctor after doctor, spending your hard-earned money, only to find no relief. That’s the reality many people face—financial struggles, failed relationships, career setbacks, or emotional wounds that never seem to heal.
This woman’s story reminds us that sometimes life drains us completely, but God’s power can step in at the exact moment we are ready to reach out in faith.
She Heard About Jesus
The turning point in her life came when she heard about Jesus. Something stirred inside her heart—a hope that no doctor, no money, and no plan could provide.
She didn’t tell anyone her plan. She didn’t organize a group or ask for approval. Instead, she spoke quietly to herself:
"If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed."
This was a private declaration of faith in action. Notice how faith often begins in the quietest, most personal places. Before she ever touched Jesus, her heart had already reached Him.
Faith in Action Changes Everything
Faith is not passive. Faith is muscular—it grows stronger the more you exercise it.
Even though she was weak, the woman pushed through the crowd. She moved forward despite obstacles. When she finally touched Jesus’ garment, something miraculous happened: the bleeding stopped immediately. Her body recognized the moment she exercised her faith.
Jesus asked, “Who touched my clothes?” The disciples were confused because so many people were pressing against Him. But Jesus knew that power had gone out from Him.
When the woman came forward, trembling, Jesus said words that still bring hope today:
"Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free from your suffering."
Your “Bleeding” May Look Different
Not everyone today is bleeding physically like this woman. But many people are bleeding in other ways:
Financially: drowning in debt or struggling to provide for your family.
Relationally: marriages, friendships, or family bonds falling apart.
Emotionally: carrying wounds from rejection, betrayal, or disappointment.
Spiritually: feeling distant from God or trapped in old habits.
Your struggle may look different, but the principle is the same: faith connects you to Jesus, and Jesus can stop the bleeding.
Connect to the Right Source
Jesus said in John 15:5:
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
The woman in Mark 5 was connected to the right source, even in her weakness. She reached out to Jesus—the true vine—and life flowed back into her body, her soul, and her circumstances.
We must also connect to the right source. Whether your struggle is financial, emotional, relational, or spiritual, Jesus is the source of life, restoration, and breakthrough.
Speak to yourself today, just like that woman did:
"If I connect with Jesus, I will be healed.
If I connect with Jesus, I will overcome this problem.
If I connect with Jesus, my situation can change."
Faith Is Like a Muscle
Faith grows when it is exercised.
A muscle left unused becomes weak.
Faith left unused becomes weak.
Every prayer you pray, every step you take trusting God, every act of obedience strengthens your faith. The woman in Mark 5 didn’t wait for someone else to fix her situation—she exercised her faith, and it connected her to God’s power.
The Encouragement for Today
Your “bleeding” may not be physical, but it’s real. Your finances, relationships, emotions, or spiritual life may feel drained. But just like the woman who refused to give up, you can reach out to Jesus.
No matter how long the struggle has lasted, no matter how many attempts have failed, faith in Jesus changes everything.
Speak to yourself, act in faith, and reach for the source that never runs dry. When faith touches Jesus, healing flows, strength returns, peace fills the heart, and life is restored.
Your miracle is waiting—if you refuse to give up.
